Tobia Zambotti, Italian designer, has created COUCH-19, the first sofa made with environment abandoned masks. Involving the communities of Pergine Valsugana and Trento by asking them to collect the masks from streets, retirement homes, hospitals and other structures, after a few days 5 cubic meters of white and blue disposable masks were collected. After being stored safely for a week, they were subsequently used for the upholstery of the sofa. The material chosen for the external covering, of transparent recycled PVC, allows you to see the "icy" color of the masks, giving the sofa the appearance of a large removable iceberg, a metaphor for global warming. The designer's goal is to sensitize people to the crazy abandonment of masks and more generally to the state of health of our planet, which is increasingly fragile due to our behavior, as individuals and as a community.
